Requirements

The Ugandan National Examinations Board (UNEB) has published a list of chemicals and equipment which it considers necessary for adequate science teaching at O-Level.

Additionally, we will require:

  • A van modified to carry all the equipment and chemicals safely down dirt roads, along with up to five members of staff.
  • Textbooks and other educational resources for students to consult during lessons. These are not generally available in schools.
  • Laptops and a projector to display further educational material in lessons. These will be particularly useful for showing videos or simulations of experiments that we do not have the time or resources to carry out.
  • A centre including staff accommodation, equipment and chemical storage, offices, and a meeting hall, which will act as the base for the mobile lab.
  • Salaries for up to five members of staff in Uganda: a programmes manager, two qualified teachers, and two laboratory assistants.
  • Running costs for the van, including petrol and maintenance.
  • Administration costs for the office, post office box, insurance, legal fees, printing, internet access etc.A detailed forecast of the costs will be provided shortly.
